Carrying the Legacy

A Note From the McCall Girls

We are The McCall Girls, daughters of Mixed Media Artist, Stephanie McCall. Growing up, our home was filled with creativity undoubtedly because of our Mom who had a knack for creating anything that she could see. From trips to Hobby Lobby as kids to watching her make dolls in our basement to standing in awe at all of her paintings hanging up in her apartment, our lives have been spent watching our Mom create. As a single mom of three daughters, creativity was sometimes her only way to fulfill a need around the house while other times it was a personal outlet, form of expression, or declaration. Many nights we’d fall asleep to the sound of light jazz or soulful R&B and the hum of a sewing machine or the clink of a paintbrush being rinsed off. By the time we’d wake in the morning, she’d have a new creation to show us.

It is our privilege to honor her life & legacy by making her works available to the public. After a lifetime of displaying, selling, and delivering her creations right beside her, this is what we know and even in her physical absence, what we must continue to do. During her life, our Mom was mostly a closet artist who enjoyed socializing in the art scene and received some local recognition wherever she was living. However, no one outside of her immediate family and very close friends knew the magnitude of her creative abilities. It wasn’t until her passing that people stood awestruck in front of her body of work and understood just how talented she truly was. Her art is our inheritance and our shared legacy. As Stephanie’s daughters, it is our privilege & duty to continue to share our Mom with the world through the her artwork.

Sincerely,
